Both sides gave informational presentations and discussed a possible partnership. InSTEDD is a nonprofit organization from California which works primarily in Southeast Asia. It hosts a network of researchers and professionals who share information and technology toward the common goal of early disease detection and disaster response. A point which was stressed during the meeting was that both InSTEDD and GSL worked in a broader social context than just economic profit and loss. Rather than talking revenue and costs, emphasis was put on discussing the importance of open-source technology and shared information.
