Obopay Training as a starting point of Bank a Billion project |

After the announcement of Grameen Solutions Limited (GSL) and Obopay initiative to facilitate the bank a billion vision, the Grameen Solutions Team arrived in Bangalore on September, 7th 2008.
The purpose of the visit is to do the knowledge transfer. The GSL Team is expected to get familiar with the core architectural design as well as the functional aspects of the Obopay system. As a part of the knowledge transfer, the Obopay Team gave a presentation on the functional aspects of the system as well as a live demo on their mobile banking methods. In turn, the GSL team is expected to share the operational aspects of the Microfinance Institute (MFI) with the Indian counterpart.
The initial plan for the GSL Team is to work with the Center of Excellence Team based in the Bangalore. The teams are to work together towards the solution of a MFI component as a part of the existing Obopay system. This solution will be applied on a pilot project which is scheduled to be implemented in Mumbai , India. A great deal of coordination and series of meetings are required with different stakeholders to gather the market and product requirements. GSL Team working closely with the Obopay Team to meet all the stakeholders’ interests. The GSL team will play a major and active role to ensure the smooth flow of the execution of the pilot project.
